Home with our Lord, forever in our hearts
Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park, 2739 Panama Ln., Thursday, July 31, 9:30 a.m., with Reverend Gary Bashor officiating. Everyone who encountered David McDade remembers him for his outgoing nature, his quick smile and generous spirit.
As a young graduate of Nyack Bible College, in Nyack, New York, Dad was led to share the Love of Christ as a missionary to the migrant workers. He was sent to California from our home church, Hawthorne Gospel Church, in Hawthorne, New Jersey and joined Missionary Gospel Fellowship, based in Turlock, CA. His assignmentthe Bakersfield/Lamont area. Beginning his ministry in the Sunset Labor Camp, holding services and Bible classes at Rosewood Retirement Home concluding with his lifetime dedication as pastor of Faith Bible Church in Lamont, his life was one of activity. Mom and Dad spent several years as volunteers working with Kern Adult Literacy, holding class twice each week in the church building teaching English as a second language. Mr. McDade worked for over 30 years as an elementary teacher for the Bakersfield City School District. How he loved this job! Wherever he went he would run into his kids from years past.
Dads goal was to show Gods Love through his own. He lived his life as he taught others to..Believing that each moment is a gift, and every day a miracle. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him, family, friends, and especially his wife of 48 years, Ruth; daughter and son-in-law, Ruthie and John; as well as grandson and namesake, Johnny William David.
Visitation will be today, July 30, from noon until 9:00 p.m.
