Esther E. McDade, 72, of 1502 Pine, Winfield, died June 5, 1998, at her home.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Miles Funeral Service. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until 9 p.m. today.
A memorial has been established in her name as an education trust fund for her grandson, Pariss McDade-Brown. Contributions can be made through the funeral home.
McDade was born June 20, 1925 in Winfield to Ysidra Ortiz. She was raised in Winfield and graduated from Winfield High School in 1943.
She then served with the U.S. Air Force Civil Service at Strother Field and later at Minot, N.D.
On April 20, 1946, she married James F. McDade, and they resided in Winfield throughout their married lives. He died Aug. 27, 1987.
McDade was employed as a secretary at Winfield State Hospital and Training Center during the early 1950s. She returned to work at the Winfield State Hospital in 1961 and retired as a licensed mental health technician in 1983.
McDade was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for more than 65 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandra McDade and Karen McDade, and a grandson, all of Winfield.
An infant son preceded her in death.
