FOREST CITY - Mrs. Ethel McDade Mayse, 85, of 416 Freeman Road, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center, Shelby.

She was a native of Rutherford County and was the daughter of the late Matt and Eunice Holland McDade. She was a member of Wilson Baptist Church and she taught math and chemistry in Rutherford, Polk and McDowell counties for 34 years. She retired from teaching in 1980 while at East Rutherford High School.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Mayse; a son, Michael Mayse of Burlington; two daughters, Myra Mayse of Boone, and Marcha Beheler of Shelby; two brothers, Yates McDade of Valdosta, Ga., and James McDade of Vicaville, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Sinclair of Rutherfordton, and Maude Atchley of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren, Michele Beheler Riffey, Simonne Goode Simione, Paul Goode, Eva Goode, Elizabeth Mayse and Matthew Mayse; and a great-grandchild, Ashley Simione.

The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Wilson Baptist Church with the Revs. John Edwards and Carl Street officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Washburn and Dorsey Funeral Home and other times at the home, 416 Freeman Road in Forest City.
