R. L. McDade

R.L. McDade, 85, of Montgomery, Ala., died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at Jackson Long Term Hospital after an extended illness. He was born March 1, 1918, in Bonham, Texas, to Lirix and Florence McDade. He was a member of the Southside Church of Christ in Montgomery, Ala.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Simmons Street Church of Christ in Denton, Texas, with Evangelist Dedrick Jennings officiating and Evangelist Herman E. Wesley III as eulogist. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Oak Cliff Funeral Chapel.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae McDade; daughter, Sonja Mechelle McDade Wesley; son-in-law, Evangelist Herman E. Wesley III; two grandsons, Brandon JeMarcus and Christian Rischard, both of Montgomery, Ala.; two brothers, Luther McDade and V.J. (Sarah) McDade, both of Denton, Texas; three sisters, Mary James and Fluide Simpkins, both of Denton, Texas, and Blondell Guilkey of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Odell (George) Allen of Linden, Texas; one brother-in-law, Clarence Hodge of Dallas; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

The family will have family hour at the Southside Church of Christ, 3388 S. Hull St., Montgomery, Ala., Thursday evening, Aug. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. under the direction of Bell Funeral Home of Hayneville, Ala.
