Alice C. Reeves, 93, passed from this life January 4, 2007 at Mayview Convalescent Center.
She was born April 8, 1913 in Alamosa, CO and grew up in Pueblo, CO. After finishing high school she began a promising singing career with her own radio program. Later she began her 50 year marriage by becoming a Navy wife and gave up her career to raise a family. She is remembered as a generous, loving, and giving person who agonized if she accidentally hurt someone's feelings. She continued her interest in music through the church choirs both performing and directing. Shortly after she moved to Abbotswood in 1989 she started the Abbotswood Nondenominational Church modeled on military chapels and trained Wake Forest Seminary students in practice ministry.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband Cdr. Goodwyn G. Reeves. She is
survived by her son, G. George Reeves and
wife, Nancy of Raleigh; her daughter, Mamie Alaimo of Apex; sister, Laura Scott of Pueblo, CO; grandsons and wives, Mark and Debra Reeves of Raleigh,NC; Rex and Heather Alaimo of Linden, NC; Joe Alaimo of Atlanta, GA; granddaughters and husbands, Liz A. and David Feuerstacke of Memphis, TN, Sandra R. and Wayne Tarkenton of Columbia, SC, Susan R. Woodruff of Raleigh, NC; Alicia A. and Mark Lew of Apex; NC and 16 great-grandchildren, Matt Reeves, Vince, Cerridwen,
Goodwyn and Angel Alaimo, Ashley, Nicky and Lindsey Feuerstacke, Ben, Karen and David Tarkenton, Christie, Anna and Chip Woodruff, Heather and Chris Lew. A memorial service with family and friends will be held Saturday, January 13 at 1:00 p.m at Abbotswood, 7900 Creedmoor Rd. Raleigh, NC.
Burial will be with her husband at the Memphis National Cemetery. The family
thanks the staff at Mayview for the gracious and loving care given. Additional
thanks to the staffs at Abbotswood and Morningside where Alice resided in the
past. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
