According to Gene Lindley, Aunt Ida's son, his grandfather John and his Uncle Jim tried to stop 'Sam'
{this is the name Oscar Ernest was known by} from staying in Arkansas. Sam refused, said he wasn't leaving. Sam died not long after -- no one knew what of or where he had been buried. Well, Sam's sister Aunt Carrie and his brother, Uncle McKinley got word from Uncle John's - wife's - sister of a woman who was supposed to know everything there was to know about the Hale's: where they were buried, how they died, etc. and they got a hold of this woman. She told the three Hale's right where to go to find out about Sam. If I remember Gene correctly, they located an older gentleman, {then in his 70's and this was back in the '40's} who told them that Sam had died of malaria and that he had gone and buried him with his own kinfolk. Carrie offered to give the man some money for his trouble and his kindness but the man declined.... This is what I am told.
Sam was buried on the Lofton Family Plot, Houston, Arkansas.

I feel victorious today, RD.
I found your phone number and got to talk with you.
Locating RD Hale was something I had attempted to do since learning from Gene Lindley that he was living in the Tyler, Texas area. I had located an address, which turned out to be a wrong address, and since phone calls are my preference for contacting new family, letters were never sent.
However, a man by the name of Leonard Allen Hale entered the picture.
Responding to an e-mail inquiry I had sent him and a following phone conversation, Leonard sent me his Hale family file.
Leonard's e-mail address was @tyler.net......well.. I'm thinking maybe if Leonard is in Tyler, he can find RD Hale for me. An e-mail was sent to Leonard, asking for his hand in finding RD. Soon, Leonard sends me a note , "Rd lives just up the street from us..."
I called information for Tyler-Troup, Texas. The operator had no listing for RD Hale. So we tried Judy Hale...nothing listed....then I gave her Leonard's number thinking she could find a clue by going off the prefix of his number...... and, POW!... J Hale listed at so-n-so and then the number.
I called. Mrs. Judy Hale answered. " Hi, I'm trying to find RD Hale..." "Well you found him...he's right here.."
