William Roach, son of Ann Roach wife of James Roach, deceased, was indentured to Richard Carnel on 18th day of march 1793 in Person Co.., NC. C., when William was four years and seven months of age. (Source: Person Co.. Court Minutes, Book 1, pages 63-64 North Carolina) It is reported that he moved with other members of his family to S. C. about 1800 where he married; and it is believed he died there. On the 1810 census for Pendelton Co. SC, a William Roach 16-26 was enumerated. I believe this was our William since he is near Littleberry, brother to our James and uncle to William and his age is right for him to have been born in 1788. Littleberry had a son William who was enumerated in the same location suggesting this William 16-26 was not a son of his. On the 1820 census there was a William Roach 26-45 (ours was 32) in Newberry Co, just one county from Pendleton Co. where a William was enumerated in 1810. I believe this one to be the William who had been in Pendleton Co. in 1810, and the son of James and Ann. I have not been able to find any further information for him.

No documentation has been brought forward to prove that the ancestors of James , Mary, John, Littleberry, Lewis, David, Thomas, and William was William Henry, who supposedly married Cathrine Ashcraft in New Kent Co VA. Though Henry appears on descendants charts in other family groups, he must be qualified as "possible ancestor" until documentation can be provided. There is enough info on court records and land records in Orange Co NC that suggests the possibility of this relation to Wm Henry that it is easy to connect them; but no documentation has been found to prove the connection.
Other records suggest that James may be descended from a John Roach Sr. who was first found in Charles City Co VA in 1704 and seemed to have been there for many years. It would have been possible that he fathered a Roach line from that county. There is a connection in court documents between a James Roach of Charles City Co VA and a David Roach in Halifax Co VA in 1770 and a connection between this David Roach and a James Roach in Orange Co NC in 1791. This James appeared on deed records in Charles City Co VA from 1679 through 1773. The first record I have found for James in Or Co NC was in 1774 and have found no record of him in VA after 1773. There is a very strong likely hood that both these James' are our James Roach progenitor in Or Co NC. The David Roach in Halifax Co VA is then very likely James' brother.
Beginning with James Roach in Orange Co. NC, all persons in this report have been documented as his descendants.
