Notes for Ann Thompson:
Before Ann married John Reading in March 1798, in February of that year she went into Orange Co. court and bound each of her under age children by James Roach to people in the community where they had been born and had lived. This seems to have been in keeping with James' wishes stated in his will that if she remarried that his children be put out to people who would be good to them. Soon after this she sold her part of James' estate and remarried. Records of the children's being bound and Ann's selling her part of the estate are found in Orange Co. NC Court Minutes.
