He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the 622nd Ordinance Battalion in England. He had been a resident of High Point for 45 years, and was a retired employee of Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. Surviving are two brothers, Leith Bryant of the home and Charles Bryant of Boise, Idaho; three sisters, Clara Snider of High Point, Johnsie Burchfield of Gastonia and Annette Soots of Lewisville, Texas; a half-sister, Glenna B. Kinard; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Harold C. Davis Funeral Home of High Point. David enlisted in the Confederate Army on 04 March 1862 and was assigned to Company I, 1st Regiment, North Carolina Infantry. Company I was known as the "Wake Light Infantry." David was captured 18 May 1864 at Spottsylvania Court House near Fredericksburg, Virginia, and was confined at Point Lookout, Maryland for a time and then was transferred to Elmira, NY. He was paroled at Elmira and exchanged at Camp Lee near Richmond, Virginia, on 23 February 1865. Later, David became a prominent Wake County farmer and a faithful and active member of Bethel Baptist Church. David and wife Rowan are buried in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery,Marriage Notes (Rowen Bryan)
